Well, I was curious what TC meant by the extremely vague "threat to his masculinity", which could range from insulting him in public all the way to...

As cops escorted a handcuffed Scurria to a squad car parked out front, he made unsolicited statements, repeating, She tried to cut my balls off, the report continues.
Under questioning, Scurria told detectives that he and the victim lived together and had gotten into an argument. Scurria and the unnamed woman, who has not yet been publicly identified pending family notification, lived together, but Scurria said he considered the relationship over, according to the report.
The defendant stated that during the argument he knocked the victim unconscious after repeatedly striking her in the head/face areas, it concludes. The defendant admitted he attempted to get rid of the evidence by dismembering various parts of the victims body.

Yeah, if that's true that's pretty fucking serious. People on the other side will defend a woman that kills an attempted grapist, and I even remember a story where a woman claimed it happened (may have, we don't know for sure) and her relatives hunted the guy down and murdered him, and that was supported, too.
Obviously (again I stress, IF TRUE, which should have to be proven for his claims to be admissable in court) everything he did after knocking her out wasn't justified and he's going to jail for a long time for it.

inb4 Zeus starts sympathizing with him because he doesn't think courts would have accepted knocking her out was self-defense

I mean, there's a literal "Duluth Model" indoctrination within the police to automatically assume the man is the aggressor and the woman is the victim... A domestic violence situation is pretty fucking scary for a male victim, specifically b/c he won't be believed if he defends himself, so the only thing he can do is try to flee the home, if that's even an option.
Happens all the time. Here's a recent example:

(there are videos of the police response as well, but it depicts them shooting the victim dead, so I won't be posting them)
