I mean, his own generals were trying to kill him too, so there is that. And if you look at all the plots to kill Hitler, the amount of luck this bastard had to not die until he chose to kill himself rather than face an army of very angry Russians is insane. There was a bomb plot that failed to blow his plane up because it was too cold, another plot using the same bombs failed because the guy couldn't get close enough to Hitler (the suicide bomber also got very lucky surviving), another attempt that was part of the Valkaryie plot was called off because they couldn't get Himmler at the same time (they didn't want to risk a civil war with the SS). Yet ANOTHER plot was stopped by a German Officer not out of loyalty but just because he thought it was wrong to kill a man while he was eating. And then there was the bomb that actually DID detonate, but because of the placement of the bomb against a heavy table leg and the open windows, Hitler and just about everyone else in the room survived. Hitler created a special gold wound badge to commemorate living through the attempt, for himself and everyone else in the room.

I also recall reading, and take this with a grain of salt, the Allied powers considered slipping Hitler female growth hormone to try and neuter the power of his voice.
