It is completely doable for that same 23 yr old single mother to get a nice house $0 down in a rural area as a starter home. Keep it 5-10 years and sell, use the profits to move closer to where you want to be and hopefully you have a better job or degree within that 5-10 yrs.


Apparently you don't. If they live in a rural area they will have a worse job. There reason Cali is prime real estate is because it has more job opportunities.
