Whyd you say one million? I doubt a 23 year old single mother could afford even a $150k home on an average salary like that. The issue here is for the same work, Americans are making the same in 2022 as they did in 1980.

OP used a $950k house as an example, I rounded up. I won't disagree that wages have not moved directly proportional to inflation, no argument there. I'm focusing on TC's ridiculous examples for his near daily whining about the housing market and his defeatist attitude that it's impossible to buy a home when what he should be saying if he's being truthful is "it is impossible for a ~20 yr old to buy a nice home in a safe area of a major city with no education and an entry level job".

That would get no argument from me lol even though that's basically what his sniveling amounts to

Actually, older homes are often times much better.

Read, that's not what I said. Older homes are often sturdier, yes, but if you'd actully been able to comprehend what you read you'd see I clearly said more amenities/features, avg home is now larger, and higher cost of materials. Safety regulations and codes alone make an avg modern house much more expensive to build than one that was built last century.

You really don't know fuck all about houses at all, do you?
