For many of us, what our bodies are born with is not necessarily more important than what we learn, where we are born, and how we train our minds. For many people, THAT is human. The ability to empower yourself through education, and live in an advanced society, to drive a car, to vote, to discover who you want to be a take charge of that development. These are simply not goals which other creatures on earth will directly identify with on an individual level at least. As far as I'm aware, we can tell it either coincides with OR predates the ice age. Those are some big shoes we're stepping in here. Have people changed much since then? How about the rest of life on Earth? Part of me wants to say human was biology's way of saying evolution isn't good enough, if you can see the irony there.
