  1. Mythbusters tested this. There was at least one round they flat out couldn't find and the ones they did find were deeply buried.
  2. Turn on your local news after New Year's Eve or American Independence Day. No matter where you were there will be at least one story of someone being killed by a falling bullet from who the fuck knows where.

Yeah, that's traveling somewhat parallel to the Earth. Fired in the air, it will arc, why under the effects of wind and probably the EArth's rotation, spin back, and fall. A bullet is specifically shaped to cut through air generally speaking, and then under the effects of gravity... And the shape also generally being conductive to inserting itself violently through human flesh...
