No shame in being average my guy

Holding yourself to a standard in your mind is setting yourself up for failure. If you really want to do something, really want to be good at something, work at it and understand shit's gonna come with failure time and time again until you improve.

And it helps to reframe the shit as something you enjoy for the sake of it, not as something you *must* excel in. There's always gonna be someone better. I've been playing guitar for 15 years, can't remember the last time someone didn't fuck with my playing. I have friends who outclass me by quite a margin even though they would say otherwise, it don't matter to me because I play for *me* 9 times outta 10.

Now that's speaking strictly to some hobbies. I dunno if you're talking some other shit like work related, just make your money and go home. Excelling at work is rarely rewarded on its own strength so do whatever you gotta do and nothing more unless there's more explicit opportunity.

I can't speak to more than all that given your general statement on dissatisfaction being as vague as it is, but too many people, too much external pressure got people thinking they gotta excel in some area or they ain't shit. That's fucked up, there's nothing wrong with chilling and finding happiness in simplicity. Easier said than done for some, but better than beating yourself up like this.
