i totally get your point and you're right about that being a waste of kosher salt. however, i'm gonna go coffee snob here and say that filtered water absolutely makes a difference when brewing coffee and tea. for some recipes, filtered water matters.

Sure for some things filtered water matters however boiling functionally produces the same end result unless there's actual particulate matter in your water. Filtered water in tea matters, filtered water in your instant ramen doesn't. In the case of kosher salt it predominantly should go on things that are hot and need to be cut with a knife. It can also be an overnight dry marinade.
