First final fantasy I felt had any difficulty (hadn't really truly played nes ones yet) X had a couple of boss fights that gave me a hard time but in XII I was actively using buffs and debunks to win fights which I never felt the need to in previous games. Bubble was a constant to where I had bubble belts on everyone. Haste was frequently used. Slow also and often enough I'd have berserk on my heavy hitter.
