I can sympathize. A few months ago I had a thrombosed hemorrhoid that burst a few days after appearing and bled slowly for about five days before finally closing up. I couldn't schedule a doctor's visit for a few weeks after, and on advice from medically-trained loved ones, I didn't consider it serious enough to go to the ER.

Scared the hell out of me when the bleeding didn't stop after a few hours, but it always looks worse than it actually is (as in blood on TP / in the bowl tricks you into thinking you're bleeding a lot more than you actually are). And as long as it's bright red, that should indicate that it's not something more serious. So after a few hours I was able to just relax, stop exacerbating the problem with excessive wiping, put some maxi pads in my underwear for the next few days to keep my pants clean (and subsequently building up further empathy for the fairer sex), and finally it was able to heal up.

When I was finally able to get in to see a doctor, both he and the specialist I saw later said everything was looking good, no further treatment necessary. Had the little son of a bitch not burst on its own (so immensely thankful that it did), they would have lanced it themselves and things would've more or less turned out the same.
