The book itself is pretty good, way more serious and horrific than the video game's sci-fi fun. The author is a pharmacologist that cites his real sources when he is grounded in reality and isn't advancing the sci-fantasy elements of the plot. I read it about a decade ago when I was just out of highschool and for the last few segments of the book I was living the 'WTF AM I READING" Ronald Mcdonald meme. Ahh, that sounds really cool, actually! I love when authors are versed in science enough to mix some real science into sci-fi. --- Join the club.
