Ever since this movie I've used that

Who's the real life guy that won that sprint?

Ray Stewart.

Dude came 8th in the Olympic finals (later turned into 7th after the winner was disqualified)

He'd actually performed better in the semis but then injured his leg. He had to pull out of the Relay event.

His name is soured in athletics because it was revealed in 2010 that he was taking steroids and banned from competing and coaching.

He's also pretty infamous for accidentally coming up with the name Pokemon. Ray was a notorious gambler (which is illegal in Japan) and Satoshi Tajiri and Ken Sugimori were in Jamaica on vacation. They'd come up with the concept for Pokemon and some illustrations but they weren't sure what to call it.

Then they were walking past a table in a bar one day when Ray was dealing cards, this caught their attention and Ray called out "Hey, d'wanna play some poker mon?" ... a franchise was born.

^ Hey now that's completely unfair!
