Topic | It's impossible to find a cheap car |
furb 01/29/22 5:07:04 PM #11: | In my case, there was a broken chain and metal shavings in the transmission housing. They said the transmission fluid seemed low. I never got in lights telling me that was the case nor did the check engine light come on before the failure. I suppose a leak could have developed or something, but no warnings came on that was occurring. The car drove fine that morning into work. I left the parking garage I use after work, drove about a block -- and it was running fine best I could tell -- and as I accelerated through an intersection, I hear a loud pop or bang. I coast the car to a curb and call a tow. The engine would generate RPMs and sounded fine, but the car wouldn't move in any gear. It's a CVT model. So it's not like I've been popping the clutch and grinding gears because I am bad and shifting or anything. *** In 2019, an oil shop botched the oil change. They drained some transmission fluid. They claimed to have fixed it. I didn't trust that, so I brought it to my dealership and had them check it days later. They ran diagnostics on it and said it was fine. That was 3 years ago and like 40,000 miles ago. So I have no idea. --- You know how fads are. Today it's brains, tomorrow, pierced tongues. Then the next day, pierced brains. -Jane Lane ...
