Alright, let's be objective here.

Sword and Shield were the first Pokemon games I was actually disappointed with. First of all, the balance of the game was HORRIBLE. Not being able to turn off the EXP share was detrimental. It didn't help that you got showered in EXP for everything, be it the EXP candies or the EXP you got just from fucking camping. Not to mention that each gym leader was only like 2 levels higher than the last. This made it unplayable.
But I would have been able to forgive even that if the story was good. It just wasn't paced properly. Events happened with no real build up or anything making it interesting. What really killed it was Eternatus. It has literally the same gimmick as Necrozma. Why would they do that? It was so bad... The story really left us with nothing. The idea with the wolves was cool, though. But that aftergame was a fucking joke. I also have some problems with the DLCs. I think Crown Tundra was cool -- but the other one was just like, China, and I don't get why they did that when they claimed to have been so proud on how much they researched Britain for the game.
And this is more superficial, but the design for some of the Pokemon (looking at you Reddit-bot penguin) were inexcusably bad. But I do feel like most of the Pokemon were good. I am a bit disappointed in the Dynamax/Gigantamax gimmick, though -- it just felt too similar to Mega Evolution, but even that had its positives.

As for this Arceus game...
I do feel like the concept was actually a great idea. Giving Arceus his own game was the Diamond and Pearl remake we deserve. And the mission being to make the region's first Pokedex was really neat. ...But I can't help but to feel like they fucked up one a few things. First of all, the choice of starters. Why in God's name would they choose the ones they did? The Hisuian forms was an interesting idea because it forms the basis that Pokemon looked different in centuries passed. I think it was a little strange they changed the name of Sinnoh, but that I can live with. I get that the point may have been for you to "discover" the old starters, but Typhlosion, Samurott, and Decidueye was a mistake -- ESPECIALLY Decidueye. Poor bastard came around just a generation ago and they already massacred my boy with an unnecessary new form. Like, what were they thinking? In my opinion, they should have given us three new starters -- but with the gimmick that in present day Sinnoh, they became extinct. I think that would have been a neat concept...
The Pokedex seems like a strange mish-mash between previous generations. But for the most part I'm okay with it. The new form that I really can't accept is Weavile. What did they do to it!? Why? Removing it from being an Ice-type entirely was just garbage -- especially because they essentially just made is Toxicroak. It was unnecessary and lacks substance.

So here's my questions for you guys to answer...
-Can the story make up for the changes I have a problem with?
-Did they do Arceus justice?
-Is the story properly paced this time around?
-Did they fix the EXP problem so that the game is actually playable?

I just feel like Pokemon has been fucking up lately and I genuinely don't understand why they're doing what they're doing. I wish they'd just hear our complaints. It breaks my heart because this franchise has been such a huge part of my life for like...half of all my years. I have autism and focusing on a franchise I love, putting time into it, even being creative with it using my artwork -- is how I make myself happy. It's what I do.
I guess eventually all franchises die and we all have our first time with that. It hurts, but man -- I'm hoping it gets better. But that's probably a hollow wish... Shit like this never gets better. It just kinda happens.
I'm wondering if there's still some good in this game. Because man, the concept was rad -- but just from what I've seen I think they been trying WAY too hard with the superficial stuff and that just kills the experience. We still want it to feel like Sinnoh, you know? We don't need that fucking Decidueye thing in Sinnoh or for Weavile to be slenderman smh

So uh... Tell me what you think.
And please, let's keep it respectful and not start that "wtf you talking 'bout pokemon died in gen__ lol" shit.
