They buy it because that's all there is to buy. Sweatpants and t-shirts aren't professional wear. If a woman want any kind of respectable clothing, she can only buy the diaphanous mock-suit jackets and tight pants. Buying baggier things will either be frumpy or just will literally not fit.

Gender ain't liberating; it's constraining. You can't pretend that a whole population being told since infancy that "women look like this!" has nothing to do with the fact that the stereotypes are purposefully perpetuated by people who think "women look like this!" when making clothes, or when people diminish the intellect/presentability of a woman because she fails to wear the "women look like this!" clothes.
