I assume a mix of adrenaline and ego. Never struck someone with my baton but I have gone hands on and used pepper spray. I've never felt anything but maybe an adrenaline rush and that was one time where I did very little. Responded to a officer down code. By the time I got there he was already dog piled by 2 officers and all I did was help get his arm behind his back to be cuffed. Every other time I felt nothing really. Well anger one day cause I got a minor injury. Sgt was laughing at me cause I kept angrily saying "I wasn't even supposed to be here" I had come in to cover for someone who wanted the day off But yeah that dude looks a little psycho.
