"The greatest growth in the gaming media sector over the past 5 years has been in the area of streaming videos/commentary by gamers. How do you feel about this? Does GameFAQs have any future plans or interest in getting involved in that area?" - The Admiral

If theres one thing weve learned in the past few years, its that GameFAQs and video just dont go together as well as they should. We tried video walkthroughs and they didnt take off. We allow YouTube links to video that we get plenty of submissions for but that dont really drive much interest in our users. Streaming is so outside of our niche in the market that adding it wouldnt even make sense. So many sites do this already and do an amazing job that trying to compete would be silly. We could look into partnerships with other sites and try a focus on teaching/walkthroughs of games, but thats probably the best case scenario there.
big missed opportunity imo
gamefaqs was big enough at the time that they could have given review copies of big upcoming titles to the most popular user reviewers and made video reviews on youtube and later twitch to drive a lot of eyes to da site
video playthroughs, if only of portions of game, whether new, classic, or notorious, not with the aim of guiding, but praising faqs on da site
should have had a pod as well highlighting the best user contributions of the week or month and just enough gaming news to capture some more general listeners
work form home bacon would have had to live close enough to the office that he could record these things with one or two other people, maybe a paid community manager and video editor. i'm sure he would have been a fun personality, i mean, he dressed like sailor moon one time

they can still do all these things, and with modern teleconferencing tech it'd be trivial to include faq creators, reviewers, etc., in playthrough videos, again, even if just for minute long clips on tiktok or something. it wouldn't revive the once thriving niche message boards with themes like alternative music, cable television, digimon dating, or gamefaqs world: wyoming, but it would drive a lot of new ppl to da site
