Game still had legs before Activision fully took over. Even to this day, no other MMO can compete with its end game from a competitive player stand point. FFXIV is just story, some casual stuff, and very moderate amounts of content for competitive players.

When wow was first released the thing that made it stand out was the fact the game wasnt as hardcore as other mmos. Barely a penalty if you died, easy to understand controls and how the game works but over the years wow has begun to become the very thing it tried to separate itself from and its been like this for years now...
