I get the tinfoil idea that he gave D&D a rough sketch and through line for how the events of GoT should unfold and not-so-secretly was watching their execution to get pointers on how to condense and marry all these ideas and twists for his books.

After he saw what we all did, he's probably been completely overwhelmed by the fact that he had 5000 other steps before the destination they ignored and now unfucking his intended ending with Bran, while also answering a ton of the lore questions the show ignored, is simply too much work.
