This simply comes down to no creative lead for DC having the same protections in place that Feige had in place for himself at Marvel. If Feige had not had multi year contracts to keep himself as captain, Marvel would have similarly fallen apart years ago.

You are right. The plans, if there were any, must have been changed on the fly a bunch. One relevant thing I don't see brought up much in this discussion is that the 2011 Green Lantern movie with Ryan Reynolds was originally intended to be the beginning of the DCEU but after it came out and everyone hated it they changed plans and excluded it from Man of Steel's universe. But it shows that right from the very beginning they stumbled and tried to pivot. And then kept stumbling over and over afterward.

Maybe in an alternate universe Wonder Woman 2017 kicks off the DCEU and they structure everything else around what went well in that movie and create something cohesive.
