You are out of your mind if you think people should have to come out to their parents.

Hell, I'm 36 (bi) and don't intend on coming out to anyone over 60.

All my friends and my partner know, but years of listening to parents talking about how bad homosexuality/bisexuality/being trans were really fucked me up. When I did finally come out to people my age I had a breakdown from all the resulting pressures.

I think it's reasonable for teenagers not to want their parents to know everything about them. I don't think the school library, for example, should have to notify parents when kids check out books, and parents shouldn't have to be told their child is in a GSA at school either.
