I have an LG C9. It is definitely worth it. I went from a 1080p samsung plasma TV I had for like 9 years then upgraded to a budget 4k samsung that honestly felt more like a sidegrade. Like the resolution was clearly better, but everything else about the washed out blacks/greys, lack of contrast, panel quality was just lower.

This is basically what happened to me. I think I rushed into getting a 4K TV because I really wanted a 3D TV (this was back in early 2017) and by that time, 3D was being phased out so I bought the only one still available which was a combo 4K / 3D made by Sony.

It wasnt even that good. Like yours, the blacks seemed more washed out and no matter how much I fiddled with the settings, it just never really looked great. Jokes on me too, because it turns out I didnt like 3D at home. Kind of gave me motion sickness lol.

That TV also developed a really bad dirty screen effect. A nice 4-inch block appeared near the bottom of my screen that went across the entire thing. It bothered me way more than it probably shouldve lol. The display ended up getting really fucked up anyway so when that happened I went with an OLED and I couldnt be happier.

The 2009 Samsung 1080p that I have is still kicking and looks great.
