I also dont really know what his motivation for listening to Gobbys speech was since in 3 its obvious everything he does is for his daughter and staying in that universe seems counterintuitive to that, seemed weird.

I feel like it wasn't about Goblin at that point. Flint wanted to grab the box and go home and that was his motivation. Peter wasn't letting anyone go back until everyone was fixed and that is probably why Flint attacked him, because Peter wasn't going to let them all go back until it was done and well...none of the villains were going to allow it.
