For sure, but I think there's something larger going on here as well. People who accept and constantly engage in the sort of progressive rhetoric around "trauma", microaggressions, victimization and so on are not building a healthy, rational psyche. I think that sort of rhetoric tends to encourage catastrophizing and fragility.

Unless she doesn't engage in that sort of thing, then just ignore my comment. Again, I don't follow her.

I don't even think they're offended (well some of them are, they're just that brittle). I think there's a lot of people engaging in bad faith because they're just waiting for the darling of privilege critique to slip up. She posted a one and a half hour video titled "mask off" apologising for a laundry list of comments that wouldn't even get moderated on gamefaqs, it was so bizarre.

This is the thing. She engaged them directly, apologised even, and also explained where she wasn't due an apology and where people were hyper overreacting. That was her mistake.

Its a "dammed if you do/don't" situation. It might have been wiser for her to just blank the entire thing, but she's Lindsay Ellis. She has to dive into the granular detail of it all and extrapolate. The mob came to her home with pitchforks and she was practically duty bound to tell them that their anger was misplaced.

It's a shame. She did incredible media critiques. And her heart was clearly in the right place. Twitter killed a good one.
