My boomer mom complained about black people in survivor "I can't tell them apart!"

Oh gosh, I had to stop watching Survivor with my family this season...they were REALLY salty about some of the councils.

I'm subscribed to Russel Hantz's youtube channel but I haven't and probably never will watch his videos on S41. He made one after the premiere bitching about Survivor being "woke" and I was thinking "dude... Jeff and production always gimmick-hypes shit in the first episode and then it fades into the background. Calm the fuck down." Sure enough, things blew over and the season played out fine. The excessive twists and shorter length hurt it to an extent. The cast diversity was a good thing. The change of "come on in, guys" to "come on in" was... I mean, bitching about something so trivial as that is going full mask off to begin with, but it was good that opinions on both sides of that matter (both from LGBTQ+ people for that matter) were aired and discussed. Of all the things to complain about, people have a problem with one word being dropped from a familiar phrase for the sake of being more inclusive? Fuck that. Have a problem with a million idols and advantages. Have a problem with people having to out themselves as advantage holders by having to say a weird-ass phrase that won't even do anything unless people on every tribe have found the clue. Have a problem with sacrificing your vote for a safety dice roll. Have a problem with that annoying hourglass twist (and I am not knocking Erika at all for using it or for winning. She played an amazing stealth game and will go down in history as an unfortunately underrated winner). A friend of mine from a community board was annoyed by the season and plans to avoid the next one and I was almost distraught to learn this because we had gotten out of touch during the pandemic and I knew he tended to be politically a bit of a both-sides-er so when he expressed early disapproval, I was like "fuck... I hope this doesn't lead me to stop talking to this dude. That would be unfortunate." His grievances did turn out to be about the structural and gameplay changes to the show though. He's a purist. I don't blame him. I mostly am too. He did have issues with the racial nature of this past Big Brother season, but they were about individual players hurting their individual chances of winning for the sake of a collective goal, which to me is understandable though I did agree with him. I'm not one to jump into things or believe in things bigger than myself, but I can make exceptions at times. He tends to think in a bit more binary (win or lose) way in games like Survivor and Big Brother (and in fact we have both played in many forum-hosted games based on both shows, including several of the same ones and in fact have both won more than once and in some cases were in the same games together and allied with each other. In fact he once solo voted me out at final 3 because he knew he would lose if we were final 2 but that he had a good chance at winning against the other final 3 player, and he did win and had my vote and support as a juror because I knew he made the right decision. When I make it to the end, I win. I've never been a runner up. Put me in front of the final jury and I will win. When I lose, it's because I get voted out before that point, and final juror has been a very common placement for me >_> so I have the history to back that up).

damn lol that post textwalled in a hurry lol
