When I hear partner it brings up more questions in my head than if they just said who they were in a relationship with. I just think that if I was married or whatever Id want everyone to know lol. But everyone is different

The idea is to eventually move past the questions, I believe.

From what I understand, as it stands using "partner" is essentially a complicated way of saying "I'm gay."

By spreading use of the term into other relationships, it becomes a general term for a significant other instead of an identifier.
