I already appreciate others. And unless Im feeling depressed, I don't care what others think of me. You should just focus on things you have control over. You can probably get closer tonwhat you want in your own world than what you feel is possible atm. In my mid 20s, no one could convince me Id mentally be where Im at today. Just don't let the mainstream standards manipulate your own standards. Then find others who also don't let the status quo standards effect them as much.
