I think part of the thing with RE4 is that while its popular, a lot of RE fans blame it for the series being bad for a decade. So the series going back to being a bit more like pre-RE4 might validate that salt rather than boost RE4. Dark Souls is kinda weird in that while its a newer game, its insanely well-respected. And its not even that new anymore so it has some nostalgia going for it too.
