It's interesting.

She wrote a gay character at a time when LGBT inclusion in children's books was largely not a thing. She defended the inclusive casting when the musical made Hermione a Black woman. And she created a sympathetic character who was written as an allegory for the stigmatization and hardship HIV positive people face in the working world.

Yet, she thinks trans women are "men" and categorizes them as rapists. That's like going to bat for Black rights, Asian rights, and Latino/a rights, but then making blatantly racist remarks toward people of Indian descent. How can a person fight for equality on so many fronts and still be so bigoted on another?
