I mean hell. Back in the day, Romans in particular would leave deformed newborns in the hills to die or get eaten by the wolves.

Of course, long before that two infants were rescued by a wolf and the wolf milk made them strong and wise and then they founded Rome.

What I'm saying is, mythology is fucking bonkers and that until the last half millennium, humanity has also been pretty awful.

Why did they leave babies to die when in their own founding myth, babies left to die, founded their city?

Either they didn't learn anything from the myth, or they thought "if enough babies get sent to the wolves, maybe one day one of then will build another city "
