the mistake he made was tipping through the restaurant. if he really wanted to give the two waitresses 2k each, he should've just written them a personal check individually, outside of their place of business.

fuck the business, fuck pooling money, but rules are rules, and if it was technically a tip and it's technically supposed to be split, then technically the restaurant gets it.

i blame the smarmy ass rich guy that thought he was doing something flashy and ended up getting himself into logistical hell. he should've thought about what he was doing.

According to other people in this topic the restaurant normally doesn't enforce a tip-splitting policy. This was just a special case because they got paid so well for their service.
