I met Wil Wheaton at a Trek convention back in the 90s. He was just walking around the halls talking with people and he was a super nice guy. I talked with him for about an hour of just Trek and sci-fi stuff and stories about his time on the set of Stand By Me. It felt like I was talking to a friend I've known since forever. He's a good guy.

I'm not saying he's a bad person, I'm saying this is a shit take. Eddie Murphy grew up as a poor black kid in 1970s Brooklyn who had his father murdered when he was a child, spent time in foster care, and found an insane level of success doing stand up as a very young man.

He didn't owe a young Wil Wheaton a flawless worldview.
