I live in a predominately Spanish speaking community(I'm the whitest person here lol) and I've never once heard it until I was on GameFAQs. for me, it's more like, I'll refer to anyone by what they want me to, and I recognize some classifications are going to be more popular than others, and others are going to be more controversial.
