Why is it offensive to literally anyone at all though I could imagine some would feel like outside forces are trying to force a descriptor on them they didn't choose, or it's sort of corruption of their language wounding their sensibilities. Also maybe they rightly think it sounds really stupid and being called something stupid is offensive to them.
