But I love what they did for Toko and seeing Makoto's sis being about as aloof as him was amusing. In my case (and what I suspect is probably true for a lot) isn't that UDG is that bad but that it's just plain mediocre/bland in the ways that matter while the rest of the series is super zany and off the wall. Yeah the gameplay was super unremarkable, but the fact that the story basically goes nowhere and the characters were super "safe" in respect to the rest of the series. And in a series where your plot and characters are basically the only thing that matters this leaves you in a pretty poor spot. If I were going to compare them with Pokemon the main three might have a Garbodor or two, but UDG only has Elgyem: characters that are super flavorless that no one actually remembers. And rather it being the offensive nature that would cause them to be on the bottom 10 it would be them having no redeeming qualities outside of the aspects that were facelifted from others in the series and a bunch of minor negatives sprinkled in to make them stand out. Monotaro is now a child instead of a robot bear? Truly worth adding in an additional "cutesy" set of ticks to make him more annoying. --- "A shouted order to do something of dubious morality with an unpredictable outcome? Thweeet!"
