| NBIceman 11/28/21 7:32:52 PM #71: | Ys: The Oath in Felghana (PC) Second Ys game I've played through. Origin was my first, and I really adore that one. This one... I did not so much adore. Played on Hard, so I was obviously expecting a bit of a challenge, but it really seemed like a lot of the difficulty came in cheap ways, especially with any of the non-humanoid bosses. Some of them were just unimaginative and tedious, others had such varied and RNG-dependent patterns that every once in a while an attempt would feel completely unwinnable if I got unlucky. Narrative was pretty rough, too. I know that's not really the Ys focus, but Origin at least had some likable characters and genuinely surprising moments. Oath's main cast was either dull or actively bad, and you can see every plot development coming from a mile away. I'd still call this a good game - it looks pretty, the music is as pleasant as one would expect from a Falcom game, and any combat that doesn't involve a frustrating boss is fun ARPG fare.
