| armandro 11/24/21 1:14:21 AM #17: | Found this on reddit Those are two separate events, which for whatever reason Khara thought would be good to fall under the same moniker of "Near-Third Impact". What happened at the end of 2.0 was a failed impact that really didn't get off the ground, because Kaworu did stop it prematurely. The real "Near Third Impact" was an unseen event that happened between the two films, in which SEELE attempted Instrumentality using Mk.06, which fused with Lilith. This is the one that Kaji stopped, and you can even see his crashed VTOL in 3.0 if you have a careful eye. Kaji and Kaworu were put in charge of NERV HQ, because Gendo and Fuyutsuki were most likely MIA, hiding from SEELE after what happened at the end of the film, as in SEELE's vision, it would have been gross negligence on Gendo's part (though unbeknownst to them, he had planned it all out meticulously). --- https://imgur.com/sKghEcP 8 October, 2023 ...
