I'm surprised they went with Murder 1 when the number and severity of any other homicide charges would have functionally guaranteed the same sentence without needing to prove any sort of premeditation. Regardless, I don't see that it's particularly likely that he gets off with anything less than life, so I still don't think there's much to debate here.

I suspect the charges will change as more info comes to light/people in the hospital suffer or die. I still don't want to pass a verdict as to if he's guilty or innocent until after more information has arrived.
