Yeah, but even Marvel hates that interpretation. Which is why 99% of the time, when you get something outside of the comics, he's in high school.

It's why they magicked away his marriage. Quesada's entirely argument was that being married made him "too old" to relate to. But divorce would make him feel even older and less relatable. And just killing MJ off and making him a widower would be even worse, because that makes him feel old and kills off a popular character.

So obviously the only possible fix was to have him make a deal with the devil to sacrifice his marriage to save the life of his 99-year old aunt who has a heart attack every couple years anyway.

It's the same reason they did the Clone Saga back in the 90s - the original intention was always to have the clone turn out to be the real Peter, so the Peter who married MJ could retire and go off to live his life while we'd get a younger, more dynamic Peter who was able to date again and do young people things. The only reason they walked back on it was because the backlash was so strong.

And, of course, when they did the Ultimate line, it was pretty much built around a younger Spider-Man in high school. At least until they killed him off and replaced him with an even younger black kid.

Personally, I'm half-waiting for them to eventually do a storyline where Peter is magically de-aged to 16 and has to go back to high school. Because that's what they really want.

They should do one where he's something like 22.
