She got in their way so they wouldn't get further in the store, but didn't touch them... And even look away to not be to confrontational when asking them to leave... Which is fair. And if you really think the only reason they pushed her was because she was in their face, you aren't looking at it the same way I am... Again, these people came in looking for a fight. Even when talking to the police, the guy said, "We heard a reputation about them and that they've assaulted other people, so we wanted to go in there to see if we could get a coffee." Normal people are usually going to coffee shops where they might get assaulted... And they even tried to lie about what the owner did with the bat to make them seem justified... De-escalation strategies most likely wouldn't have worked just because they usually work with normal people. Especially since those scumbags weren't normal. And you can say they weren't violent, but neither was the owner. Plus, those two came with violent intentions, apparently... So, no. De-escalation strategies here probably weren't the best strategy in this situation...
We don't know if she actually ever chased anybody with a bat. Apparently it's illegal to chase somebody with a weapon even if you don't use it on them though. ---
