Topic | Remember when Saved By The Bell was super racist? |
AlCalavicci 11/03/21 7:05:33 PM #22: | Airhammy posted... https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0695212/ imdb page for the episode Was going to mention this. Mark Paul talked about it in his Zack to the Future podcast which is where the quote comes from within that article. It's definitely something that hasn't aged well For those who haven't watched the episode, him dressing up like that (in the thumbnail) was supposed to be his serious take on what he learned about Native Americans, and IIRC he had learned that he had a very small amount of Native American (Cherokee?) in his heritage. The presentation was supposed to be him taking it seriously and that he had learned about it and missed his dead friend. But, obviously doing something like this in the early 90s is completely different from doing it now so it's easy to look back and say he was racist. The Podcast episode (that he does with Dashiell, the creator of the Zack Morris is trash videos) also talked about some other things wrong with that episode regarding Native American characterization, and I believe even had a Native American comedian on the show as a guest star which was interesting. Def worth a listen if you're interested --- http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20111123223446/simpsons/images/9/99/K.png I didn't even give you my coat! ... Copied to Clipboard! |
