He's popular because he does the centrist grift. The centrist grift is where you start out by saying you don't like either side, and that you're only interested in having conversations with people and asking questions, bro.

Then you spend decidedly more time talking to not just Republicans, but far right lunatics like Alex Jones, and you don't challenge them on anything. By not challenging them on their bullshit, you are by default presenting their nonsense as legitimate, because after all, if it were made up bullshit, surely Joe would be calling them out, right? But he's not ever interested in calling anyone out, he's just asking questions, bro.

Did you notice how Dave Rubin was a member of the highly touted member of the Intellectual Dark Web, until he kept making them look bad by saying absolutely idiotic things? Then Dave Rubin goes on Rogan's podcast, as he has many times before, but this time was different. This time Joe was challenging him. This time when Dave said something dumb, Joe didn't nod his head in agreement, this time he was being called out, and Dave Rubin looked absolutely gob-smacked at what was going on?

There's 2 ways you can take this.

1) Rogan had Rubin on numerous times through the years, talked with him on and off the podcast, had dinner with the man several times; as they would all always post selfies together, but suddenly only after talking to him for years did he realize that Dave Rubin was a moron.

2) Rogan and his IDW pals said "Man, this guy is saying some things that even we can't find a way to agree with and he needs to be taken down a peg".

Dave comes on the show, gets embarrassed, and hasn't been invited back since; nor has he shown up at any IDW gatherings.

So either Rogan is a complete idiot himself since it took him so long to realize that Dave Rubin shouldn't be listened to, or he's a grifter like the rest of the IDW and knows exactly what he's doing.

Pick one.

Why is he famous? IMO it's because he's mastered how to tip toe the grift between left and right. He's a borderline Socialist when he needs to be, but then has Ben Shapiro on to talk about how systemic racism ended after the Civil War. It's pretty wild.
