From what I understand, the cougars and dogs usually wont attack a human unless they feel the human is injured and easy prey. So could he have been injured? The answer is a resounding yes. The flood area had contaminated the available fresh water. Given that BL couldnt start a fire to boil water, thats a very good chance he may have been suffering from severe dysentery and dehydration. He would have been an easy target for a large animal.

But yeah, he probably offed himself in the first five minutes he was out there.
