Just because it's bad for a few people doesn't mean it's not still a net positive. More people will benefit from not being constantly bombarded with false information, and mental health will increase in the long term (at least for people who don't jump to other platforms).

And if you want to connect with friends, pick up the phone and call or text.

You seem to misunderstand a lot of things good person. I have an e-commerce business that is partially on facebook, so it being down is kind of a big deal. Some people, especially older people don't understand technology very well so facebook is that happy medium. Sure it has its downsides, but that's like any website or media outlet.

Case in point, I have a friend who lives in Ontario who doesn't have a personal cell phone and can only contact me over Facebook. Same is the case with another friend and Steam.
