I've lived in this apartment complex for 2 years. I love it here, but my one and only complaint the rent, it's expensive as hell for a 1 bedroom.

I'm really good friends with the landlord, and him and I have hung out outside of our professional relationship. Because of our close relationship, he has been public about a few of the tenants that live in the building. In the past, he has ranted about a few awful tenants he's had, and he has talked about how much rent people are paying. I do know most of the tenants already.

One time when I was at his house, he had some paperwork listing off how much all the tenants were paying in rent. And I noticed a correlation. This one girl, who migrated from China, is paying SIGNIFICANTLY less rent than I, almost half, and she has a 1 bedroom as well. Not going to lie, I'm insulted, I struggle to make ends me and I'm really good friends of the landlord, and he can't give me a discount? But this girl can get one? This pisses me off, but I still don't know the whole story. Maybe she has better negotiation skills than I do, maybe there's some other reason. Maybe it's because of the fact that she's from China.

However, I looked through the tenant list and noticed a trend with all of the tenants that are paying significantly less. They all migrated from somewhere in Asia.

I am pretty insulted, but the reason I made this topic is because, maybe there's something I'm missing. Maybe there's a valid reason for them to receive a significant discount (half of what I pay for the same square footage).

Do I have the right to be pissed?
