There was a post going around on Facebook a while back about how the whole "sharing the word of God" thing is specifically designed to provoke rejection, so that one will go back to their in-group where they'll feel accepted compared to the rejection they faced elsewhere, as a means of further trapping them in it. IIRC it cited an actual expert, but I can't find the post again so can't confirm if / who this is the case.
