Granted there are other issues at work (like weaker promotion given to womens' sports leagues and slower ticket sales to events) that may work as evidence for why women athletes are paid less but that isn't enough of a reason not to.

IMO, while it's far from perfect, WWE has actually made some decent strides in trying to promote their womens' matches with some semblance of equality to the mens', which in turn gets people as a whole more invested and willing to follow it as closely.
