To be fair on that point, I believe that the MvC3 situation had a lot to do with some really, really screwy rights issues. MvC3 Vanilla and Ultimate actually came out like nine months apart, but it wasn't actually entirely Capcom's fault. I don't recall the details, but I had a lot of insider info in the FGC around that time, and I believe it came down to some really wonky contract decisions that didn't let Capcom do additional DLC beyond what was originally done, and which gave them a really small window to do an update like that. I think Marvel gave them the okay for one additional release within a short window, partially to push upcoming movies at the time. I wish I remembered the full situation, but it's been a decade and I'm blanking on some of the details by now. But for that particular update, I believe it was more on Marvel's end at the time.
