Topic	The US kept Afghanistan out of Taliban control for 20 years

Ok so I know this is insensitive and short sighted and wrong, not looking to get modded. But. Couldn't the US have just killed all the Taliban over the course of 20 years? How were they able to thrive and build and (seemingly) get stronger? Like WASN'T IT OBVIOUS THIS WOULD HAPPEN If they did whatever was necessary to take them all out quickly then it would amount to even more war crimes than were already committed.
