Like the episode where he makes the video about his family, it's made clear that Abed thinks his autism is the reason his parents divorced and he's never been able to talk about it for that same reason. I haven't really watched BBT, so maybe I'm just talking outta my ass, but I don't think it ever really frames Sheldon's personality traits as a negative in any serious way.
